空手 Karate or 空手道 Karatedo (The Way of the Empty Hand) is a martial art developed in the 琉球國 Ryukyu Kingdom (modern-day 沖縄 Okinawa, 日本 Japan).

Karate developed from the indigenous Ryukyuan martial arts (called te (手), "hand") under the influence of Chinese martial arts, particularly 福建 白鶴拳 Fujian White Crane Kung Fu.

Includes the Karate principles of Ikken Hissatsu 一拳必殺 "One Hit, One Kill", and Kisshu Fushin 鬼手佛心 "Demon's Hand, Buddha's Heart".

We honour one of the most popular and effective styles of martial arts in the world, used by many well-known Karateka fighters including UFC / MMA Champions such as Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida, Georges St. Pierre, Bas Rutten, and Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson.
